Public asked for views on county attractions

VISITORS to heritage sites run by Lincolnshire County Council are being asked for their opinions on the attractions as part of a major review into how these services are provided.

The sites on offer across the county give a rich and varied glimpse into the county's past, from fighter planes to blacksmith forges, and from Bronze Age artefacts to interactive galleries, and include some of Lincolnshire's most famous attractions such as Lincoln Castle and Gainsborough Old Hall.

Among the attractions closest to Sleaford are Heckington Windmill and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at RAF Coningsby.

Managers at the county's heritage sites would like to know the views of anyone who has visited, or is planning to visit, any of the sites and your opinions are being sought on everything from displays to refreshments, plus opening hours and facilities.

Coun Eddy Poll, the council's executive member with responsibility for cultural services, said: "It's really important to us that any decisions about how we display and preserve Lincolnshire's heritage reflects what people in the county want to see and visit, as well as being an important part of the tourist offer.

"By carrying out this consultation, we can make sure that everyone's voice is heard."

You can complete a questionnaire at www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/fhr or obtain a copy calling 01522 782040 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

The heritage sites included in the review are: Alford Windmill, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre, Burgh le Marsh Windmill, Church Farm Museum, Ellis Mill, Museum of Lincolnshire Life, Gainsborough Old Hall, Grantham Museum, Heckington Windmill, Lincoln Castle, Lincolnshire Archives, Stamford Museum, The Collection: Art and Archaeology in Lincolnshire and Tennyson Research Centre.
