Queen thanks Town Council
THE Town Council has received a letter of thanks from HM The Queen having congratulated her on her Diamond Jubilee on behalf of the people of Sleaford.
The council’s office staff recently discovered a letter of thanks from the Queen on her Silver Jubilee when the council wrote to her in 1977. On sending a fresh letter of good wishes, Town Clerk, Shelagh McIntyre was delighted to receive a reply for the monarch herself.
Having been shown the message, The Queen replies: “I send my grateful thanks to the Town Council and people of Sleaford for their kind message of congratulations, sent on the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of my accession to the throne. In return, please accept my good wishes for a most memorable and enjoyable Diamond Jubilee year - Elizabeth R.”
