THE deadline for a Sleaford family is looming ever closer as they strive to give their son a better quality of life.
The Joel’s Quest campaign was set up in a bid to get 11-year-old Joel James, who has cerebral palsy, to the USA for a pioneering operation to improve his mobility but his family needs to raise at least £40,000 to pay for it.
So far around £30,000 has been raised but they need another £10,000 by the end of this month if Joel is to have the operation that could change his life.
His mum Karen said: “We also won’t know if Joel will need more surgery until after he has had this big one.”
The James family have a whole host of activities going on to raise further funds.
On Saturday, they will be holding a duck race and fun day at the National Centre for Craft and Design in Sleaford, starting at 1pm, and on Saturday, June 23, they are running a Family Party Night at Sleaford Legionnaires Club, from 6.30pm.
Karen added: “We now have George and Peppa Pig costumes which we might be able to hire out for events to raise more money.”
On Sunday, June 24, the family will be at Sleaford Town Football Club’s Fun Day with George and Peppa Pig and they are holding a quiz night at the Ermine pub in Ancaster.
