Ready for the off in Spires event

THE fifth annual Spires & Steeples Challenge is taking place on Sunday.

Participants will be running or walking 13 or 26 miles. The longer route starts from Lincoln Castle and the shorter one from Metheringham playing fields, with both events finishing in Sleaford.

Those who are walking the full 26 miles will set off from Lincoln Castle at 8.30am and runners at 9.30am. Those undertaking the 13 mile walking and running challenge from Metheringham will set off at 9.30am.

As well as local entrants, there are entries from as far afield as Kent, Essex, Bedfordshire, York, Morpeth and Inverness.
