The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, The Red Arrows are to temporarily relocate to RAF College Cranwell to allow for repair work to their runway at RAF Scampton.

They arrive at Cranwell on Tuesday with training flying starting next Thursday.

The Red Arrows were previously based at RAF College Cranwell for five years when Scampton was closed as an economy measure.

A decision to prolong their stay at Scampton until at least the end of the decade has prompted the runway works.

The majority of the Red Arrows’ training flights will still take place in the airspace above RAF Scampton and Cranwell’s closeness was another factor in choosing to move there.

Some training flights will be conducted above RAF College Cranwell at specific times and have all been coordinated with the other stations in Lincolnshire to ensure minimal disruption.

The Red Arrows will leave Cranwell on Thursday March 7 to embark on their annual training exercise in Europe then back to Scamptoin for the summer season.
