Pupils from Our Lady of Good Counsel Primary School in Sleaford, along with St Hugh’s, Our Lady of Lincoln and St Peter and St Paul schools from Lincoln, toured the building and met the Imam as part of their studies of other religions.

Rebecca Garcia, RE leader for St Hugh’s, said the children found a lot of similarities with Christianity and would share that with fellow pupils. She said: “Nothing replaces practical experience and speaking to someone as knowledgeable as the Imam. Part of our teaching is tolerance and respect for other religions and coming here really reinforces that.”

Imam, Muhammed Sadek Gangat, said it was a success and looked forward to more visits.
