Around 90 pupils from William Alvey Primary School were the first party to visit the mosque on Station Road to learn more about how it works. They asked questions of members of the Sleaford Muslim Community Association, Noureddine Belazia and Albabul Islam, who welcomed the seven and eight-year-olds, saying it was a historic day for the centre, which opened in September. They rounded off with a muslim prayer.

Noureddine showed them how they prayed to Mecca with their Imam and outlined plans for their larger prayer hall due to be converted from a neighbouring old warehouse.

He was very impressed with the knowledgeable questions from the children and hoped more schools would visit. He said: “It is a bond that should never fade between members of the different faiths and cultures in our society, for answering questions and offering support.”
