A village shop keeper has completed a month of moustache growing for charity.
Raj Pahal runs Dobson’s Stores in Billingborough High Street and decided to do his bit for Movember.
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of millions of moustaches around the world. With their ‘Mo’s’ men raise vital funds and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer and mental health. Movember challenges men to grow a moustache for the 30-days of November, thereby changing their appearance and the face of men’s health.
Mo Bros sign up and start with a clean-shaven face, something a little alien to Raj who said he has not been clean shaven for the last nine years.
He said: “I went completely clean shaven then started again, which has caused customers some amusement.
“Throughout November I had a charity pot on the counter and a page running online. A lot of people locally have been affected or are suffering from testicular or prostate cancer and I wanted to create some awareness around it.”
His final total raised was a fantastic £210.74 and he said a number of men had donated having been affected themselves. He said this pointed out how often these conditions are kept quiet by men, leading to a lack of awareness just how widespread the condition is.
