St George's Academy show good GCSE results

ST George's Academy got off to a flying start with its first set of examination results.

Eighty seven per cent of all students achieved five or more A* to C grades and 98 per cent of all of the students achieved five or more GCSEs.

Beth Temple showed some impressive grades, with Bs in Art, History, Maths, English Literature and English Language, a C in Science, and an A in Religious Studies.

Bethany Hammond was another high achiever, with A*s in Art and Design, Art and Religious Studies, A's in Technology and History, B in Maths, English Language and English Literature, and C and B in Science, and is going to do Art and Design and History at A Level next year.

Academy Principal, Paul Watson, was delighted that the three sites had performed so well together.

He said: "These results will provide the launch-pad for the academy's achievements. The academy was established to help all of the children in the area and we are starting to see the results of that work coming through.

"Each of the three sites made significant contributions to the overall success of the academy. The overall performance is a huge credit to the students, staff and parents."
