Teenagers unite for friend in charity recording

A GROUP of teenagers who are hoping to record a charity single in memory of their friend who died of acute myeloid leukaemia on December 28, aged just 14, are embarking on a fund-raising cycle ride to pay for the production costs.

A team of four of Nathan Cook’s classmates from St George’s Academy plan to tackle a 10-mile bike ride around Ruskington Fen on Saturday, starting at 2pm.

Year 11 student Matthew Waldeck explained they needed £500 for the recording.

They are putting on a show in school and appealing for donations from local companies.

The single, titled, Young Forever, should be ready for release this summer, available on CD as well as download from iTunes.

Matthew said: “It is being recorded by a group of us from St George’s Academy and is an original composition. We are rehearsing every week. It has been hard work but is coming together really well.”

The money raised from single sales will go to a leukaemia charity.

Chloe Tudor, who has been working on the song writing side of the project, added: “We are calling ourselves Students Of Sleaford, to collaborate with all the schools, with people from Carre’s and the High School as well.”
