Chairman of Sleaford Toy Library charity Sylvia Lawes has handed over the charity’s remaining funds to Riverside Church.
The church, in Southgate, took over the running of the service earlier this year after the toy library on Boston Road closed at the end of last year due to rising costs and following vandalism to the premises.
Sylvia said: “We were naturally upset the toy library had to close but were delighted and very grateful when the church agreed to take it on. We were happy to give them all the toys we had.”
Sylvia ran the toy library for more than 11 years and was involved with the service for a further eight years before that.
She admitted: “I do miss it, especially the children but it is good to know that the service is still there for families who need it. I thoroughly enjoyed all the years I was involved with the charity but, in more recent years, it became harder and harder to get sufficient funding.”
She handed over a cheque for £2,183.06.
The toy library is now housed in the upstairs gallery at the church.
