UPDATE - Man trapped under 3 ton weight

A man was left trapped under a massive weight last night after it fell from a crane.

The incident happened at around 5.30pm last night at the site of the new straw burning renewable energy plant currently being constructed at Kirkby la Thorpe, where fire and rescue crews from Sleaford, Grantham and Billingborough assisted in releasing the casualty.

A spokesman for Eco2 said: “There was an incident last night where emergency services were called out. A site worker is in a stable condition in hospital.

“Health and Safety are involved and are carrying out their own investigation on site, and we will be conducting our own inquiry as well. Once more is known we will release further details, but until then, we cannot comment further.”
