A woman has been arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon after an alleged assault at the Job Centre Plus in Sleaford.

Four police vehicles attended when the alarm was raised just after 10am this morning that there was a woman threatening staff with a knife.

Officers used a taser on the 60-year-old local woman who was then arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. She was taken to Grantham Hospital for a precautionary check up and is currently helping police with their enquiries.

Job seekers turning up to sign on and collect benefits were barred from entering the building on Southgate until the incident had been resolved and the suspect led away.
