Police are appealing for people to come forward who may recognise any of over 100 items of jewellery, keepsakes and trinkets seized by officers from a suspected thief.
Pc Keith McLardy of Sleaford Police called on the Sleaford Standard for assistance after the seizure of items believed to have been stolen over a lengthy period of time by someone visiting people’s homes, possibly elderly residents, who was in a position of trust.
He said: “A lot of it is purely sentimental value or old things people might not even know has gone missing. We are hopeful that is people see the photos of these items then they could come forward and help to identify some of it.
“The value is not a great concern. It looks like a lot of it may have come from an older person’s house and I think it has been taken from people’s drawers by someone who has been in the property in a position of trust and have taken items for whatever reason from the home.” Judging by the volume of items he thought it could have been going on for years.
There are dozens of watches, necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings, souvenir coins, brooches and badges including some with Russian writing on.
