It was a misty, murky night for this year’s Baboon Night held at Oasby.

The annual event includes a collection for Children In Need which raised over £70 on the Friday night of the charity telethon when villagers and visitors joined the torchlit procession around the little village, chasing the ‘baboon’ in front of them.

On arrival back at the Houblon Inn revellers, including a troop of morris dancers, were refused entry until an effigy of the baboon could be tossed over the roof, done by a crowd of excited and eager youngsters.

* Staff, family and friends at AW Repair Group’s branch in Sleaford hosted a charity car wash raising £225 for Children In Need.

Business Development Co-ordinator Anna Wooster commented: “We had a great time with a steady stream of vehicles from 10am to 3pm. Donations were also given for burgers and hot dogs from the barbecue, kindly donated by G. Simpsons Butchers of Heckington and Sleaford, and hand-made cup cakes.”

Staff and family were delighted to have raised so much.
