'We raised more than two grand for charity!'
STAFF and customers at Sleaford's Homebase store have raised £2,447.03 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Across the UK Homebase stores have raised a total of 1.55 million for the cancer support charity through the company's 'No Place Like Home' campaign.
Every penny raised will help Marie Curie Cancer Care provide high quality care to people with terminal illnesses, allowing them to spend their final days in their own homes.
Employees have been organising and taking part in a wide range of fundraising events, including dressing in yellow days, sports days and challenges, quizzes and participating in the charity's flagship annual Great Daffodil Appeal.
Judy Glossop, community fundraising manager for Marie Curie Cancer Care in Lincolnshire, said: "The amount Homebase staff and customers have raised is a magnificent achievement and will help us make a real difference to terminally ill people and their families. I would like to thank everyone for their fantastic efforts.
"Everyone should be very proud of this result - 1.55 million will fund 77,500 hours of home nursing in the UK. Last year in Lincolnshire 42,380 hours of Marie Curie Nursing was provided to 504 patients."
Sleaford store manager Gareth Wilkins said: "We are absolutely delighted with the total raised through the 'No Place Like Home' campaign, which really has surpassed all our expectations and hopes.
"We are thrilled that our efforts will provide more nursing hours in the communities in which we operate and want to thank everyone involved for their excellent support."
