You can help a poor child to enjoy a brighter Christmas

ALREADY people in the Sleaford area are pulling together to support our annual shoebox appeal.

Once again your Standard has teamed up with the Rotary International Shoe Box Scheme to help brighten up the lives of children in Eastern Europe at Christmas time.

We are inviting all local businesses, organisations, schools and individuals to lend your support to this year’s appeal and bring a touch of happiness to those less fortunate than ourselves.

You can pick up flat pack shoeboxes from the Sleaford Standard office at 28 Handley Street, Sleaford, Monday to Thursday during normal office hours.

Full details are given as to what items and gifts can be included in the boxes.

All the filled boxes must be returned to us by November 16 for collection by Rotary, who will then distribute them to deprived children and families across Eastern Europe. The gift boxes wil be taken to Romania, Ukraine and Belarus.

Many items that we take for granted in our daily lives can make a huge difference to the poor families there. In the case of the children, the toys that are sent to them may be the first gifts they have received for a very long time.

Please attach a £1 coin to the top of each box to cover transport costs.
