Youths warned to keep out of derelict Heckington Manor

The owner of a disused clinic for treatment of alcohol addiction has put out a renewed appeal to parents to discourage their children from endangering themselves by trespassing on his property.

Dr Mostafa Morsy owns Heckington Manor, where he formerly ran the Ferdowse Clinic for treatment of alcoholics until government health funding cuts.

The property has stood unused for a decade despite attempts to sell it on with it becoming a magnet for thieves, ghost hunters and youths climbing over the security fences to treat it as a playground.

Dr Morsy said: “We did a lot of work to secure it but as soon as the school holidays started, I had a phone call yesterday (Wednesday) to say that 15 people were seen jumping the front wall to go in. We have put signs up to say it is dangerous and please stay out but people are still ignoring it and going in.”

As the building has decayed it has become more and more unsafe,

Dr Morsy said: “It has just been a nightmare. The building is unsafe to go in now. I am 70 years old and cannot chase 15 young people, so I called the police and they said they would go, but I don’t think they did in the end.”

Each time there is an intrusion, he says it costs him hundreds of pounds in repairs to make the site secure again. He said it would help if the public path running alongside could be temporarily closed to make it harder to gain access to the property. Dr Morsy said intruders even use the ‘keep out’ sign as a step to get in.

He has previously put forward plans to demolish it, with backing from the parish council, but added that he had a client interested in buying the site but it was a slow process.
