Man, 18, dies in suspected industrial accident on farm at Digby Fen

An 18 year old local man has died in what is believed to have been an industrial accident on a farm at Digby Fen.

The man, identified by the Health and Safety Executive as Jackson Maplethorpe, from Billinghay, is said by a police spokesman to have died at the scene at Maple Farms, the family farm where he worked.

Lincolnshire Police were notified at 11am on Monday (November 7) and a spokesman said: “Inquiries are ongoing and we are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive.”

Although investigations are continuing, he said: “It appears the man was driving a tractor and trailer when it got it stuck on an overhead electricity cable. Then when he got out to try and resolve the matter it appears he has been fatally electrocuted.

“We are making further enquiries and will prepare a report for the HSE.”

A health and safety Executive spokesman said they are aware of the incident and attended the scene with police.

It is understood Mr Maplethorpe attended St George’s Academy and was studying agriculture at Riseholme College.
