The Sleaford Standard has helped a man relive his youth as an apprentice photographer on its staff.

Mark Suffield, now a town and district councillor, as well as a company director with a local school meals company, contacted the paper, interested in having a look through our photographic negative archives having worked as a young snapper for the paper in the mid-1980s.

Having spent 25 years in the photographic industry, the 47-year-old has decided to create a dedicated Facebook group to Sleaford in pictures having posted a number on his own website and on the Sleaford Past Facebook page.

Coun Suffield said: “The new group is called Sleaford In Pictures - Past & Present, which can be found at www.facebook.com/groups/sleaf

“I had spent a lot of time going through my old pictures and scanning them and felt they should be out there.”

He launched it on New Year’s Day and The Standard has agreed to allow him use of the pictures he took while working for us. On day one he had 270 people look at the site with lots of comments adding names and memories.

Mr Suffield said: “I am not looking to make money out of this but just want to release all the local memories locked away in the filing system.”
