This year’s Sleaford Historic Car and Motorcycle Show started with a parade through the town from Four Seasons Garden Centre as regular sponsors of the show.

Arriving at Lafford Terrace car park there was a large range of historic cars and motorcycles, sponsors’ stands and background music by the Lincolnshire Hospital Band.

People travelled from far and wide to attend and this year the committee awarded a trophy for the furthest travelled which went to an entrant from Cannock in Staffordshire in a 1983 Datsun Z802X.

The show’s trophies are made from pistons with awards given out by public vote. The best in show car was won by Stuart Turp with his 1969 Ford Capri and the best motorcycle was awarded to local man Richard Coulson with his Triumph Tiger 110. A trophy in memory of George Allen was this year presented by his 10 year old grandson, Andrew, from Chelmsford, who gave a speech before giving it to Gilbert Thomas for his Velocette.
