Sleaford area Muslims are celebrating their holy festival of Eid al-Adha and will be inviting local people to join in.

The festival actually took place on Thursday when Sleaford Islamic Centre on Station Road opened for prayers. But then this Sunday all residents are welcome to visit the centre for an Eid Bazaar.

Nadim Aziz from the centre said it will be an opportunity for local people to learn more about their culture. He said many muslims take the opportunity to go on a pilgrimage to Mecca for the festival. “It is a holy day and a big celebration for us,” he explained.

From 12-4pm there will be numerous stalls in the yard outside including food stalls and sweets. There will be henna and face painting, arts and crafts, balloon modelling and pony rides from 2.30pm.

Deputy mayor of Sleaford Coun Mark Suffield will open the event.

All proceeds will go to their Muslim community charity. Organisers are taking further stall bookings, call 07903488754 or 07738633156.
