Sleaford churchgoers have opened a ‘Healing Room’ in a coffee shop in the town.
Linda and Chris Bennett have been leading a community church outreach programme based in Costa Coffee, in Sleaford’s Southgate since January and it will be officially launched by the Mayor of Sleaford, Keith Dolby on Monday at 9.30am.
The current plan is to open weekly on Monday mornings from 9.30am-10.30am.
Under the scheme, Christians and non-Christians alike are welcome to pay a visit if they or a friend or relative have been affected by illness and wish the members of the Healing Room to pray for them.
Mr Bennett said: “We ask what you would like us to pray with you for, say a short prayer and that’s all, no fuss, no loud talking, no records kept.
“It costs nothing but donations are welcomed.”
They are affiliated to the National Association of Healing Rooms and you can contact them on 07530 438439 or email: healingroomsslea firstname.lastname@example.org. Home visits could be arranged.
Mr Bennett said Healing Rooms have been running for about 10 years as a more informal approach than going to church: “We are a group of Christians from all the local churches. It is a place for people to seek God for their healing.
“We have seen some quite remarkable healings. Some instant, some in a few weeks.”
