A new family business venture in Metheringham is set to create up to 10 new jobs.

The Sellers family from nearby Thorpe Tilney are busy converting former shop premises into Cod’s Kitchen, a 60-seater restaurant and takeaway.

General manager and head chef Jarrod Sellers, alongside his mum Sharon and dad Phil, is revamping the Caroline Road building for his new venture, but it is set to offer much more than just fish and chips.

The new life that is being breathed into the village premises is promising to create up to 10 new jobs and Jarrod said: “Passers-by have already spotted us decorating our premises and we have had a rush of people enquiring about job opportunities.”

The family have taken a five-year lease on the premises.

“The takeway side will boast products of restaurant standard, available for takeaway, whilst the restaurant side will offer a variety of fantastic fresh fish dishes, by way of a more extensive menu at weekends. It will include locally sourced Hereford beef steaks, homemade pies and vegetarian dishes,” said Jarrod.

The business is set to open mid-November and will serve lunches, evening meals and afternoon teas.

Cod’s Kitchen will also be offering a loyalty card scheme to encourage extra interest.

This will be Jarrod’s first business venture, but he is bringing 15 years of experience to the enterprise, having worked as a head chef within the hospitality and catering industries and at a private school.

Mum Sharon said the family did plenty of research before choosing to boost facilities in Metheringham.

“Metheringham has a good catchment area, which has given us the confidence to create a 60-seater restaurant, as well as offering takeaway sales,” she added.

The property has been leased by chartered surveyor Banks Long and Co.
