A Parish Council in the Sleaford area has planted a tree at its Recreation Ground to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday on April 21.

The tree is a willow tree and it complements the two nearby London Plane trees that were planted for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and are doing well, explained chairman of Billingborough Parish Council, Michael King.

The willow tree was planted by Coun King, together with fellow parish councillor Peter Pocock.

Coun King said: “We could not wait to the actual day of the Queen’s birthday to plant the tree as it was bare rooted and the planting season for bare rooted trees officially ended at the end of March.”
