Police have received a report of a girl being approached in Nocton.

Police are appealing for information from anyone who might have been in the Main Street/Wellhead Lane area between 2.45-3.45pm on Thursday.

An investigation was launched after police received a report of a nine-year-old girl having been approached by someone in the area around the time.

Police said it is not clear whether a man or woman was involved.

Officers are working to try to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time.

The investigation is ongoing and residents in the area will notice a police presence as officers carry out enquiries in the locality, said a spokesman.
