A sum of £1,000 has been divided between good causes in and around Sleaford as a boiler replacement programme across North Kesteven District Council (NKDC) homes reaches a major milestone.
D. Brown Building Contractors has donated £500 each to the William Alvey CofE School, in Eastgate, Sleaford, and the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance to celebrate 1,000 boiler replacements at NKDC properties.
The programme of re-fits began in July 2013.
Kurt Mason, from the firm, said: “One thousand boiler installs is a big programme and we wanted to mark the event by donating £1 for every boiler.”
The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance was the business’ charity of choice, while the school was selected as a beneficiary by the recipient of the 1,000th boiler, Jo Betts, from Sleaford.
Mrs Betts said: “My daughter went to the Alvey School and I wanted the money to benefit the children there.”
Deputy head teacher Lesley Browning said: “It was wonderful news to hear we were receiving this donation. The children have decided they would like some new outside benches.”
Lincoln fundraiser for the air ambulance Emma Young said: “This donation will help towards the increased costs due to the new night flying, this allows us to cover both daily rush hours during the winter months.”
