Residents in the Westholme Ward will be going to the polls today (Thursday) to vote for a new Town Councillor for Sleaford.

Polling stations will be open between 7am and 10pm.

The two candidates standing are Anthony Brand (Independent) and Flo Ormesher (Labour).

Town councillors learned last night (Wednesday) at the Finance and Strategy Committee meeting that Deputy Mayor, Coun Mark Suffield, a Lincolnshire Independent for Sleaford, has resigned from the council due to increasing work commitments in his day job.

Coun Suffield will remain as a member of North Kesteven District Council.

A new Deputy Mayor is likely to be elected at next Wednesday’s Full Council meeting and it will have to be decided whether another by-election will take place.
