There were two late announcements of candidates standing in the Sleaford and North Hykeham parliamentary by-election on December 8 that missed the print deadline of last week’s Standard.

Paul Coyne of Sleaford, is standing on an unaligned ticket. A Sleaford Town councillor, he heads up the team composing the Neighbourhood Plan for Sleaford and Kirkby La Thorpe. He says he is running a one-man independent campaign which he sums up as: “Do the voters want to maintain the status quo, or vote for change?”

Meanwhile, David Bishop, of New Basford, Nottingham, is standing for the Bus-Pass Elvis Party.

He describes himself as an artist and poet with policies including saving public lavatories and rural buses and saving the hedgehog.

Laura Suffield has announced her husband, Independent candidate Mark Suffield, will not activiely participate in the campaign after he was taken ill on Remembrance Sunday.
