We reported on seven-year-old twins Ben and Harvey Walsh, from Sleaford, who had become familiar faces nationwide after landing starring roles in a primetime TV advert.

○ Campaigners opposed to Lincolnshire County Council’s decision to cut its library service by £2m took their fight to Prime Minister David Cameron’s door, delivering a book containing more than 900 comments from supporters to 10 Downing Street.

○ A helicopter pilot who evacuated troops while under enemy fire was among three personnel from RAF College Cranwell being honoured.

Flt Lt Jason Hunt, 39, was mentioned in dispatches, while Sqn Ldr Ted Sellers and Sgt Hayley Rogers were awarded Joint Commander’s Commendations for their service in Afghanistan.

○ Sleaford’s new £600,000 Household Waste Recycling Centre was officially opened off East Road.

It was more than three times the size of its Mareham Lane predecessor.
