○ Village life came to a halt in Ruskington when police were called to an address in High Street following reports of a man with a firearm.

To ensure the public’s safety, the force closed High Street North and High Street South in both directions, with the disruption continuing for much of the morning.

○ Ruskington would feature prominently in the news again before the month was out following a devastating fire at The Model Shop, in Manor Street.

The family of owner Stewart Broughton-Eley had to flee their adjoining home after an electrical fault in the shop’s wiring led to a blaze.

○ Dave Newman and Richard Wells from Billingborough Cricket Club set a new world record for the longest net session after batting continuously for 48 hours, while raising £14,000 for Brain Tumour Research.
