A message of peace was spread around the world, starting and finishing in Harmston.

The Harmston Ring of Peace saw the words ‘honour the past, cherish the present, create the future’ relayed to more than 40 countries to commemorate 100 years since the outbreak of the First World War.

l Firefighters battled a vast straw stack blaze at Silk Willoughby.

The outbreak, involving about 13,000 bales, left the A15 closed for four days.
