Sleaford area wildlife enthusiasts have been working hard to help toads cross a road to their breeding ponds in safety.

Members of the White Cross Lane Toad Volunteer Group, formed last year, have assisted more than 3,000 toads cross White Cross Lane, off Mareham Lane, from their hibernating ground to the breeding ponds. Coordinator Fiona Cousland said: “We’re well up on last year’s numbers, which is certainly due to fewer toads being killed at the site thanks to the group patrolling, which is super news. It’s a great success story.”
