A school meals provider from near Sleaford has taken a top honour in this year’s Select Lincolnshire Food, Drink and Hospitality Awards.

The Farm Kitchen, in Ewerby Waithe, was named Caterer of the Year when the annual event returned last Tuesday at The White Heather at Caenby Corner.

Organised by Select Lincolnshire For Food, the awards recognise and reward the people and businesses behind Lincolnshire’s billion pound food and farming industry.

Director Victoria Howe said: “We were delighted to win the Caterer of the Year Award. We believe passionately in supporting local businesses and using Lincolnshire produce, and were thrilled to receive this award in recognition of the work The Farm Kitchen does - the high quality meals and service we offer our schools.”

Also honoured at the event was the firm’s sausage and chipolata supplier - Mountain’s Boston Sausage, of Boston, which won the People’s Choice Award.

The Farm Kitchen, which provides meals for more than 55 schools, buys almost 200,000 chiploatas each year.

Gillian Richardson, business development manager for Select Lincolnshire for Food, said: “There is no doubt that what we have in Lincolnshire is among the very best in the UK’s food and farming industry, and it continues to grow from strength to strength every year.

“Winning such a prestigious county award is a great achievement. I would like to thank all the businesses for the valued contribution they make to Lincolnshire’s renowned food, drink and hospitality industry.”
