Show keeps growing

A VILLAGE show continues to grow with more and more events and attractions being added to the programme.

The Brant Broughton and Stragglethorpe Village Show takes place on Saturday on Brant Broughton playing field.

One of the organisers, Claire Tasker, explained they had always had a produce show until it finally folded. Then last year a group of people started up a village show on a grander scale.

“This year we decided to keep it going and it has grown. We are getting more stuff coming in by the day to add to it,” she said.

Among the many attractions, there will be a companion and novelty dog show, produce show, music from the Lincoln City Band and Brant Broughton School choir, plus a medieval piper and drummer and Morris and Maypole dancing.

Also included in the programme are demonstrations and displays by birds of prey and police dog handlers, the Greyhound Trust and terrier racing, plus dancing displays and dog agility, as well as a parade of the Blankney Hunt hounds.

The event will offer plenty for younger visitors too, with a children’s cricket academy and children’s races.

With more than 35 stalls, a beer tent, barbecue, ice creams, teas and cakes, there promises to be something for everyone.

Entry to the show is £1 and the field will be open to the public from 11am, with the event continuing until 5pm.
