More than 300 people took part in this year’s Spires and Steeples Challenge.

The annual event sees participants completing 13 or 26 miles on foot, starting at either Metheringham or Lincoln and finishing in Sleaford.

It aims to bring together the rich history, heritage and local stories of the area, with artworks, churches, interesting landscapes to enjoy on the route.

This year’s event took place last Sunday and attracted 330 entries in all.

Organisers thanked the many volunteers around the course.

A spokesman said: “The day wouldn’t have gone ahead without them. It was a great day with beautiful weather which made the day much more enjoyable. Participants arrived at the finish line with smiles on their faces.”

First finisher for the 26-mile run was Jon Hobbs (and his dog Pip), who said: “The Spires and Steeples Challenge is a great event and gives everyone the chance to enjoy some countryside paths and scenery as well as the artwork along the way. There is a really good atmosphere among the runners and walkers and it’s one of our favourite runs, especially Pip’s!”
