BREAKING NEWS - Collision on A17 blocks road

FOUR people, including two children, were trapped in their car after it was involved in a collision with a lorry on the A17.

At around 5.20am this morning a silver Ford Mondeo was in collision with a DAF heavy goods vehicle on the A17 Leadenham By-pass.

The occupants of the Mondeo, a man and a woman and two children from Scotland, were trapped in the car for some time before being released, and were taken to Lincoln County Hospital.

Their injuries are not serious and the driver of the HGV, from Berkshire, was not injured.

The road is still closed and will be for several hours as the HGV needs to be recovered, and a large amount of diesel has been released onto the road surface.

Local diversions are in place but some motorists are ingoring the signs. Lincolnshire Highways are on scene attempting to improve the signage and the alternative routes.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Lincolnshire Police via the non-emergency 101 number or by leaving a message on the collision witness hotline 01522 558855 quoting Incident 50 of Friday May 25.
