Work on collapsed drain due to start in car park
WORK is to begin next week on rebuilding a collapsed drain that has been causing flooding in Sleaford’s Money’s Yard car park.
Starting on Monday, the whole process is scheduled to last five weeks and the car park will remain open throughout, with minor disruption in phases which will temporarily affect up to 20 or so parking spaces.
The work is required to rectify a drainage problem which results in large pools of standing water during bad weather. The toilets will remain open throughout.
Site notices within the car park will detail the arrangements and timetable as it progresses.
From January 30 to February 17 the car park will operate as normal with only three spaces affected close to the Citizens’ Advice Bureau.
From February 20 to 24 the car park will remain open but the exit road in front of the toilets will be blocked by the works. The one-way entrance system will become two-way, with priority for in-coming traffic.
The route will be marked on the road surface and parking suspended close to the toilets and the Carre Street Mill House building.
February 27 to March 2 the car park will be open as normal and traffic flow will revert back to the one-way system as work is carried out closest to the toilets. Parking will still be restricted behind the Mill House offices.
All affected businesses have been consulted and informed of the arrangements, particularly where they will affect deliveries.
Owners of the car park, North Kesteven District Council, say some disruption is inevitable but efforts will be made to accommodate the requirements of public and surrounding businesses.
