Motorists faced heavy disruption on the A17 near Sleaford this morning (Wednesday, September 24) as Western Power Distribution began work in the area.
The electricity distribution network operator is set to replace about 100 metres of cable adjacent to the road near Kirkby la Thorpe.
This morning, the firm set up traffic lights to allow for the safe delivery of equipment, leading to lengthy tailbacks.
Lincolnshire County Council intervened after becoming aware of the work at about 7.30am and the road was cleared.
The work is now being confined to off-peak times and is expected to last until the end of the week, a spokesman for Western Power Distribution said, apologising for the disruption this morning.
The work will see a lane closed to the east of the dual carriageway, he added.
