A 33-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving in connection with a fatal road traffic collision yesterday (Wednesday) has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Emergency services were called to the A17 at North Rauceby just after 6pm yesterday about two miles towards Newark from the roundabout at North Rauceby where a red Ducati motorcycle had been involved in a collision with a grey Ford Mondeo.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Plice are not yet in a position to be able to name the deceased man.

Thursday AM: Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision on the A17 at North Rauceby in which a motorcyclist died.

The driver of the Mondeo was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Anyone who was on the A17 near North Rauceby and saw the collision itself or either the red motor cycle or the grey Mondeo before the collision is asked to contact Lincolnshire Police on 101.

The A17 at the location was closed whilst police carried out investigations and re-opened at 1am this morning.

Wednesday: A motorist has died in a collision on the A17, police have confirmed.

A stretch of Newark Road from the Holidingham roundabout is this evening (Wednesday) closed due to the collision which happened at around 6pm.

Police have confirmed the collision involved a motorcyclist and car, but have not said whether a rider or someone in the car has died.

The on-call inspector said the road is expected to be closed for some time while investigations continue.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
