Police are now saying that a shed fire first thought to be arson may now have been an accident

The 3m x 3m timber outbuilding was reported on fire at 3.43am this morning (Friday) and a firecrew from Sleaford attended, putting the flames out using a hose and wearing breathing apparatus.

The domestic summer house on Fen Road, Ruskington was severely damaged and the matter had initially been treated as arson, according to a fire and rescue service spokesman.

However, according to a Lincolnshire POlice spokeswoman, on further investigation, it is now thought “on the balance of probabiilty”, that it could have been a short circuit on a battery which caused the fire to slowly take hold.
