VIDEO - Andy and Steve take on the Screwfix screw drilling challenge

The Sleaford Standard’s own Handy Andy Hubbert and Fixit Steve Stray pitted their DIY skills against the Screwfix screw drilling challenge when the chain opened a new store in Sleaford today.

The pair had to drill five screws into a block of wood in the fastest time in order to win a 40 inch TV as part of the fun activities to officially open the new branch of the nationwide trade retailer at Sleaford Business Park, East Road.

It was officially opened by Mayor of Sleaford Keith Dolby and has created an additional 11 jobs as part of the company’s ongoing expansion plans.

Tradesmen and DIYers were all invited to attend and demonstrate their professional skills in the free-to-enter screw drilling competition. The fastest time wins a 40in Toshiba smart TV.

Leading power tool manufacturer DeWalt wasat the store demonstrating a range of products as were Three Counties Dog Rescue whose representatives received a cheque donation for £500 from Screwfix funds, presented by store manager Steve Knaggs.
