Kite Flying Day at North Kyme. Andrew Palmer flying his kite, helped by Sabrina Yip and Sapphire Yip, seven.
The event was organised by North Kyme Parish Council chairman Glynn Pout and held on the new field next to the village hall.
He said: “It stemmed from trying to get the village children away from their PlayStations and computers and making use of the new field.
“We are trying to get as many events onto the field as we can and this one was really successful.”
Admitting that he last flew a kite 20 years ago, Coun Pout said there was plenty of wind to keep the kites aloft. Many were just cheap ones for the children to play with, but they were joined by Kites4You from Sleaford who brought along some massive kites to demonstrate. He said: “We had some brilliant, mega kites while the kids just ran about with little ones and had fun. We will definietly do it again.”
The council supplied a number of two string kites, or people could take their own. At the end of the day there was a last kite standing knockout with no rules.
