28/11/07 - Gate debate call to think of elderly

EDITOR-Would those who are to debate and vote on the subject of the Millfield terrace gate to Sleaford cemetery please put themselves in our position.

Take time to go to the gate and then walk into town and up Eastgate to the cemetery. Remember you are asking pensioners, some in their 80's and 90's, to do this and they then have to walk home. Should they live the other side of Galley Hill it is even longer and, for many, virtually impossible.

The leader of the town council Mr Kyte reminds us that he is not obliged to re-open the gate just because the town poll went against the council. May I remind Mr Kyte that we the public put him in this position and we the public can vote home out.
