A CRASH ended Rob Frost's involvement in the Fuchs/Silkolene British Supersport race at Silverstone.
The incident happened when he was well placed in fourth and, although uninjured in the crash, Frost, from Ruskington, was hugely disappointed. He
had claimed a front row start to the race - his first front row since 2002 at Mallory Park - and he had been confident of doing well.
His Buff Racing Triumph had been working well all weekend and the front row of the grid was made up of three Triumphs and a Yamaha.
As the race got underway Frost retained his fourth place but was passed by fellow Lincolnshire rider Steve Plater on lap three.
The safety car was deployed after a crash later in the lap and the riders slowed to follow it around the track for two laps.
Once the car had left the circuit the race was back on and Frost immediately went past Plater back into fourth place. But his progress was short-lived as he was caught out by a cold tyre and fell at Luffield on lap five.
A bitterly disappointed Frost said: "I didn't take into account that the tyre would have lost so much of its heat while we were following the course car and it caught me out.
"It was a big shame as we had been so quick in qualifying and were anticipating a really good result at Silverstone."
The team will regroup at Brands Hatch where Frost will contest the final round of the series this coming Sunday.
