EUROPEAN kart racing champion Jack Harvey heads out to Lonato, Italy today (Thursday) for the start of a busy period of the season.
The second round of the KF2 class of the Winning Series of Karting will be his first port of call, before he takes in the UK and Japan during May.

Despite an eight-week break since the opening round of the pan-European series, the factory Birel motorsport racer from Bassingham is as sharp as ever. A victory in the opening round of the British KF2 championship, as well as several tests in Italy with the Birel squad has kept him busy.

The 15 year-old Alpinestars-backed driver is now looking forward to resuming his latest bid for European glory.

Jack said: "I've been looking forward to Lonato since we finished the first round back in March. I can't wait to get back there and go for more silverware.

"We entered the British series initially to get some more mileage under my belt and try different settings on the kart. But we've found more pace and everything went really well there, up until I was shoved out of the lead in the second final.

"I'm aiming to go out to Lonato and put everything we've learnt into place and see where it puts me. Ideally, it's going to be on the top step of the podium again."

Jack currently lies third in the series, just two points adrift of second place. He will take to the track for the first time tomorrow (Thursday) for free practice before qualifying. The heats and the finals take place on Saturday and Sunday.
