YOUNG judo enthusiasts at a village club are hoping to find sponsors after earning the chance to compete in Europe.
Digby-based Acorn Judo Club maintained its impressive winning streak with another trophy haul from its most recent competitions.

Sisters Maxine Welsby, 15, and Shannon Welsby, 12, were both bronze trophy winners at the AJA Open in Leicestershire, while Laura Orme, 19, won the bronze trophy at the Peterborough open competition.

Regional coach Julie Norman said: “Everyone is doing so well and the club has just exploded. This competition spirit will also help Maxine and Laura get into the right frame of mind for the European competitions in Holland on May 16-18, for which they have both qualified.

“This is a great achievement for the club and the girls are hoping to get sponsorship to help finance their European competition costs.”

l If you can help with sponsorship, contact Jane Wilcox on 01529 304018.

The club meets every Tuesday at Digby Village Hall, from 5 to 7pm, and is open to members aged from five to senior level.
