JULIE Hanks of Sleaford Striders Athletics Club was nominated for the Volunteer of the Year award at the England Athletics Awards Evening at Pride Park, Derby on Friday evening.
The nomination recognised the work she does for the club in her roles as treasurer, in charge of the kit shop, producing the club newsletter and coaching.

The commendation also made specific mention of her work with the junior section as a Level 2 coach, track and field team manager and cross country junior team.

Julie is currently studying a 12 month course to achieve her Level 3 coaching qualification.

Out of the 11 people nominated, Julie was in the final shortlist of three but the award went to John Cotton of Sutton Harriers.
