SATURDAY'S under 10 fixture between the rugby clubs of Sleaford and Spalding was originally scheduled to be played at Spalding.
However, a waterlogged Spalding pitch resulted in the game being transferred to Sleaford's Ruskington Road ground.

The opening of the first game was very attritional, with both sides rucking with some ferocity.

Spalding opened the scoring, whic
h was the first time Sleaford under 10s have not scored first this season.

But the young Red and Blacks scored an equalising try before half time.

The second half began in similar vein as Spalding again took the lead with an early try. But, once more, Sleaford came back through some strong running and determined rucking.

Tyler Brooks went over for his first try this season to level the scores after shrugging off some poor tackling from Spalding.

After being unceremoniously pulled from a maul by his neck, George Sheldon responded by driving over for an excellent score which gave Sleaford a 15-10 win.

In the second game, Sleaford were first on the score board but then seemed to relax, allowing Spalding back into the game.

Scrum half Joe Jones took a blow on the nose and had to be taken off. This setback for the Red and Blacks appeared to spur on Spalding, who stepped up the quality of their play, but they could not turn it into points.

Sleaford then enjoyed their best period of the day, mauling and tackling to good effect.

The Red and Blacks scored two more tries to wrap up a good 15-5 victory.
