SLEAFORD'S Richie Gutsell returned from the European Tae Kwon Do championships with a silver medal.
Richie, 39, who trains at Carre’s Grammar School Tae Kwon Do Club, secured the medal after reaching the final of the men’s red belt lightweight sparring at The Neptune Stadium in Cork, in the Republic of Ireland.

The two-day event attracted more than 800 competitors from over 14 different European countries.

Club instructor Daniel Pearce, 25, finished in fifth place overall in the men’s higher dan black-belt patterns.

The tournament was organised by Tae Kwon Do International in conjunction with the Great Southern Tae Kwon Do Association of Ireland.

Sleaford s fifth degree black-belt instructor, Jill Pearce, attended the event as an invited international referee.
